Buffalo Bills 3-2 in Past Five Meetings With Seattle

The last time the Buffalo Bills defeated the Seattle Seahawks was to kick off the 2008 season at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

If you don’t remember the 2008 season, it’s the one that saw the Buffalo Bills reach 5-1 after Week 7 with Trent Edwards at quarterback — noting that the only loss was when J.P. Losman started.

It was also the season that they finished 2-8 the rest of the season, ending their season at another disappointing 7-9.

That season all began against the Seattle Seahawks, when the two teams met on September 7, 2008 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Unlike the 2012 matchup we talked about last slide, the Buffalo Bills were in control of this entire game. They would end up winning 34-10 and start the season 1-0.

The first quarter of the game was rather boring, but the Buffalo Bills took a 7-0 lead after 12 minutes of play when Marshawn Lynch scored a 21-yard rushing touchdown. They held that 7-0 lead until roughly six minutes remained in the second quarter.

The Bills would strike again with a 63-yard punt return for a TD by Roscoe Parrish, giving the Bills a comfortable 14-0 lead in the second quarter. The Seahawks would respond less than 2 minutes later with a 20-yard passing TD from Matt Hasselbeck to Nate Burleson.

With the game at 14-7, the Bills would score two field goals in the final minute of the half to hold a 20-7 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was much like the second quarter with neither team scoring until about 8 minutes into the second half. The Seahawks started the scoring off with a 45-yard field goal, bringing the Bills’ lead down to 20-10. However, it was the last time Seattle would score in this game.

The Bills weren’t done scoring, though. With nearly 2 minutes left in the third quarter, Bills’ punter Brian Moorman executed a fake field goal perfectly and ended up throwing a 19-yard passing touchdown to bring the game to 27-10. Nearly 20 seconds later, Trent Edwards threw a 30-yard passing touchdown to Robert Royal bringing the game to 34-10.

The fourth quarter wouldn’t see any scoring from either side as the game ended 34-10 in favor of the Buffalo Bills.

It would be nice to see a box score similar to the one we saw on September 7, 2008 — the last time the Bills defeated the Seattle Seahawks. We have a much better team now than we did on that day, but so do the Seahawks.

It should make for a great game to watch Monday night.
