The Buffalo Bills addressed most positions through the draft this past weekend, that they had depth needs at, except for defensive line.  They had a plan for that as well and brought back a familiar face to the organization.

Alex Carrington was on site at One Bills Drive on a free agent visit this morning.  Alex Carrington was a Buffalo Bills from 2010, when he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills to 2013 when he left via free agency to go play for the St. Louis Rams.

Carrington, who was drafted by the Bills as the 72nd overall player has come to terms with the Buffalo Bills and signed a contract.  Carrington, while with the Bills from 2010 to 2013 found a place in the defensive line rotation.  He was also a special teams ace when it came to blocking kicks, earning him the name of “megahand”.  He had blocked a total of 5 kicks.

While in St. Louis, Carrington was seen playing in 8 games for the Rams.  Carrington played in 44 games for the Buffalo Bills over his 4 years and started in 9 of them.  He was able to come away with 33 tackles during those 44 games and 4 sacks.

Alex Carrington is most likely being brought in because he was on an upswing when he left Buffalo for the free agent market, and at this point the Buffalo Bills need a little depth at the defensive line, as Marcell Dareus is expected to see a suspension of 2-4 games due to his two trials that he has had, stemming from his illegal possession of synthetic drugs in Alabama and his drag racing incident here in Hamburg, NY.

Alex Carrington is someone that will be able to step in and play the end in a 3-4 or 4-3 defense and he is also able to play the tackle spot as well.  He will fit nicely into the defensive line rotation with Rex Ryan’s and Dennis Thurman‘s defense as it is similar to that of Mike Pettines, where Carrington was starting to make a name for himself before he got injured.

In following the team’s policy, the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, as of yet.
