The Buffalo Bills have a talented defensive line, which allows them to begin to plan and build for the future and be active rather than reactive.  Our next to last stop is a look at Gabe Wright out of Auburn.

Wright comes in at 6’3″ tall and weighs 300 pounds.  Pretty much right there for a defensive tackle, if not slightly on the smaller side.  He played in all 52 games during his 4 year college career at Auburn and started the final 9 games in 2013.  An invite to the senior bowl got him 2 tackles and a tackle for a loss.

Some strengths and weaknesses for Gabe Wright come in as…

"Great explosion into first step. Fires out with low pad level and plays with leverage at contact. Able to stay square and fight against double-team blocks. Has ability to get into gaps and disrupt the run game. Uses counter moves as a pass rusher, including a decent spin move. Shows signs of being able to read and react rather than just penetrate.Doesn’t play with consistent power behind his pads. Must improve at disengaging and locating running back. Displays inconsistent secondary motor when asked to pursue plays beyond the line of scrimmage.– NFL.com"

Gabe Wright is being compared to Terrell McClain who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2011 draft in the 3rd round, 65th overall.  McCLain has been with 4 teams in those 4 years and has only started 12 games.

The bottom line on Gabe Wright is

"Teams have an issue with his lack of production in 2014, but his initial burst off the snap can’t be dismissed. Wright has been in a defensive-line rotation at Auburn over the last two seasons, but has never really shown an ability to be a run-stuffer. Wright is a fit in a penetrating scheme, but he must continue to improve as a pass rusher.– NFL.com"

Gabe Wright is a possibility for Buffalo.  He does lack a bit in the pass rushing department, but that can be something that is improved upon within camp.  As a third round possibility, he is not a bad prospect for the Buffalo Bills.  He can be brought in as a rotaitonal player with the upside of being a starter in the next couple of years.
