The confusion at the quarterback position within the Buffalo Bills organization is well documented. Kyle Orton retired after an up-and-down 2014 campaign, and nobody knows what kind of confidence management really has in E.J. Manuel heading into 2015.

To try to resolve the issue and bring in competition for Manuel, Josh McCown was brought in for an interview but has since signed with the Cleveland Browns (grenade dodged) and rumors are floating around that a trade for Sam Bradford has been discussed although unlikely.
There will be plenty of talent within the free-agent pool once the new league year begins on Mar. 11. Veterans like Mark Sanchez, Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer are all possibilities to wear the red, white and blue in Western New York next year. All three could not only bring competition for Manuel but win games given the opportunity. None of those three, however, are the best option for head coach Rex Ryan, offensive coordinator Greg Roman and the rest of the Buffalo offense.

Matt Moore is once again a free agent looking for another chance to start again in the NFL. He’s been stationed in Miami since 2011 but hasn’t started since the 2011 season in which he threw for 16 touchdowns to just nine interceptions. He was put on the back-burner after former general manager Jeff Ireland selected Ryan Tannehill in the 2012 NFL draft and entered free agency at the end of the season but opted to stay put on a two-year, $8 million a year deal.
During the deal, Moore has thrown only ten passes in just three games of action. While it doesn’t bode well for him in terms of experience with only 25 starts during his eight-year career (first four with the Carolina Panthers), he’s heading into his ninth season with a clean bill of health.
There’s no doubt that if Miami could keep him around they’d like to but with their own cap concerns and at 31 years of age, Moore would require both a lucrative contract as well as a chance to start; with Tannehill having the quarterback starting spot locked down there’s no way the latter will happen.
The cost for Moore won’t be astronomical for Buffalo but they can afford the $4 million a year like he’s gotten paid the previous two seasons. And at a one-year initial investment, why not? With the weapons the Bills currently possess on the outside and a little more help up front, there’s no doubt that Moore could bring back a playoff pedigree the Buffalo organization has missed for the last 14 seasons.
