Everyone is putting together power rankings and giving their in-depth analysis as to why they think certain teams are where they are placed. This guy has the Buffalo Bills at #3 with the Carolina Panthers at #1. He uses a simple rating system (SRS) that he explains and it says right now that the Bills have the best SRS rating in the NFL at 51.1, which means that they score 51.1 more points than the average NFL team. Right. He does say that it should and will equalize as the season progresses but right now, Buffalo is ranked #3. [Washington Post]
The Buffalo Bills placed safety Jonathan Meeks on Injured Reserve yesterday and signed LB Larry Dean. Dean has been in the league since 2011 and been with the Minnesota Vikings during his 3 years in the league. He was second on the team in special teams tackles last year with 18. Keith Rivers suffered an groin injury against Chicago in week 1. He sat out all last week and did not play in the game against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills will begin to assess where Rivers is at and how soon he could be back on the field. Groins can be delicate injuries that take longer than they should to heal, just look at Dustin Hopkins who lost his rookie year to a groin injury suffered in preseason. [WGR]
Brandon Spikes saw a reduction in his playing time with the return of Nigel Bradham. Bradham, who has a little bit mobility, was used in 66 of the 79 snaps while Spikes was seen in only 15 of the snaps. Spikes, who is primarily a run stopper will get to see more time as the season progresses, especially if the Bills are trailing or are facing a high profile running team.
