The Bills had their ups ad downs during the preseason. But the preseason is behind us. Do you remember the Super Bowl years? The Bills back then never won in the preseason as well. Could this be an omen to come. Could the Buffalo Bills be the sleeper team in the AFC East, if not the entire AFC? [ESPN]
Kyle Orton signed with the Buffalo Bills after being released almost 2 months ago by the Dallas Cowboys. Orton, who was Tony Romo’s back-up, expressed his interest in playing more in Dallas. After missing voluntary training camp and ultimately being fined as well, the Cowboys released Orton. Jerry Jones’ is not surprised at all that the 31 year old quarterback signed with the Bills. It is probably the best possible chance for him to see some playing time. [Sport’s Day DFW]
The Bills named their Captains for the season, of the 6 none were named EJ Manuel. Should Manuel have been named a captain just because he is the Quarterback or should he have to earn his captaincy stripes? I believe that it is the latter. The 6 guys named as captains are veterans in the league. They have all been around and are leaders to this team. Yes, two are newcomers, but they were captains on their previous squads and have already taken a leadership role on this team. Manuel needs to get a little more experience and earn his stripes. The Buffalo Bills are not done yet making roster moves. CB Bobby Felder was placed on IR at the end of training camp. Yesterday the Bills released him and signed TE D.J. Tialavea. Tialavea rounds out the 10 practice squad players for the Bills capping their final rosters at 63 men. Tialavea was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason as an undrafted free agent, but was released last week. [The Republic]
Kiko Alonso didn’t even get to start his sophomore year with the Bills. While working out in Oregon, Alonso tore his ACL and was deemed out for the season. He was just recently put on the Injured Reserve list. Alonso has stated that his rehab is going well. It will take sometime for Alonso to get back to his rookie self, but he said it is going well.
