Prior to free agency starting, the Buffalo Bills were already improving their roster when they agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bears to acquire D.J. Moore to add to the offense in Western New York. The Bills had a desperate need to improve their wide receiver room and Moore is a solid upgrade.
It was the first big wide receiver move via trade, and who knows…maybe there will be more across the league as time goes on. However, some potential trades could easily impact the Bills and Moe Moton from Bleacher Report put together two mock trades that would be big time nightmare scenarios for the Bills.
Even with the first heavy wave of free agency being over, there are still plenty of moves to be made and it wouldn’t be shocking to see some trades come to light. Moton has listed seven potential trades that could still happen, with two of them affecting the Bills in some manner.
Two listed trade scenarios would deeply affect Bills
The first mock trade that Moton put together was the Dallas Cowboys trading away George Pickens to the New England Patriots, which would add him to a receiver room that now has Romeo Doubs.
Pickens is coming off his best year as a pro with 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns with the Cowboys but there hasn’t been a long-term contract given to him. For now, Dallas has placed the franchise tag on Pickens but the Cowboys were willing to move on from Pickens, the Patriots have more than enough financial room to make it work.
The Patriots landing Pickens while Drake Maye would still be on a rookie deal would be dangerous in the AFC East. Pickens has always been a solid receiver and he could be the one that gives Maye that huge third-year jump.
The second mock trade that Moton put together was the Pittsburgh Steelers trading DK Metcalf to the Kansas City Chiefs. Yet another solid receiver going to a rival of the Bills. Kansas City already acquired running back Kenneth Walker and if they managed to land his former teammate as outside weapon for Patrick Mahomes, that would be a very dangerous trio for the Bills to defend against.
Even with the Bills revamping their secondary and adding players like C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Stone, Metcalf is still a great receiver who can stretch the field and catch a quick pass and turn into a long gain.
Every team in the NFL is always looking to get stronger, but no fan wants to see rival teams get stronger. Especially when it comes to how fans feel about the Patriots and the Chiefs.Â
