When it was announced that the Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears were finalizing a trade that would bring wideout D.J. Moore to the Bills, it was the start of the revamp to the wide receiver room. Not only did the Bills gain a No. 1 wideout for Josh Allen, but they gave Joe Brady a familiar receiver from his Carolina days where Moore had 1,000+ yard seasons under him.
The addition of Moore wasn’t just a solid one, it was a necessary one. People may think that giving up a second round pick might be too costly, but it’s a low second rounder and whoever the Bills would’ve drafted most likely wouldn’t have made the immediate impact that Moore will.
The Bills had been in need of a true No. 1 wide receiver for Josh Allen, and Moore will hopefully be that missing piece to bring this offense over the top. It really does depend on who you talk to, but the acquisition of Moore is a massive one and Colin Cowherd from The Herd agrees with it as well.
Bills praised for acquiring D.J. Moore from Bears by Colin Cowherd
Cowherd listed his five favorite offseason moves through the first week of the legal tampering period and free agency, and the acquisition of Moore was listed by Cowherd.
“I think D.J. Moore is a good get. I think he’s a very good player. Never misses starts - five years, really durable, smart guy.” said Cowherd. In addition to these comments, Cowherd also talked about how the offense in Chicago may have put Moore in a position to be “overlooked." Cowherd started discussing Moore at the 2:00 mark.

Just like Cowherd said, Moore hasn’t missed a game in five seasons. Having that accomplishment at the wide receiver position is almost unheard of. That itself might just be worth trading away a second rounder.
However, his production can’t be ignored. He’s two seasons removed from having over 1,300 yards with Justin Fields as his quarterback. With Chicago loading up on offense with young guys like Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and Cole Kmet, that puts Moore in a position to be the odd man out.
Now that he is in Buffalo, he should for sure become Josh Allen’s go-to guy in the passing attack. Let's not forget either, Moore is still well in his prime and now he joins a contending Bills team that has been knocking at the door of the Super Bowl for quite sometime.
