Going into the 2018 NFL Draft, it was one of the stronger quarterback classes coming out of college. The Buffalo Bills clearly needed to get a quarterback since they had traded away Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns, and they had two first round picks coming into that draft from the trade they made with the Kansas City Chiefs the year prior.
The Bills originally had the 21st and 22nd pick, but then made some trades to climb up. Prior to the draft, the Bills were able to move up to the 12th pick, and then they traded up to No. 7 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to land Josh Allen. With Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold already being off the board, the Bills needed to act fast.
It was going to be one of the two Josh’s (Allen or Rosen), or Lamar Jackson. In the end, the Bills selected Allen and the rest was history. Then later on in the first round, the Baltimore Ravens traded back into the 1st round to land Lamar Jackson, who was going to be the one to take over for Joe Flacco.
Those two have since then ended up being the two best quarterbacks from that draft class, and even some of the best in the league.

Both of these quarterbacks are some of the best that the game has ever seen, and they both have accomplished a lot in their careers. At the same time, they are always compared to each other in terms of who is the best out of the two.
Ravens fans will obviously say it’s Jackson, while Bills fans are saying that it’s Allen. Then you have the rest of the field that could go either way. The one frustrating factor is that there are people who believe that Jackson is destined for the Hall of Fame, while Allen isn’t. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report seems to believe it as Knox put together a list of active players who are more than likely to be in the Hall of Fame one day.
Jackson was listed, but Allen wasn’t…
"Of that 2018 group, Baltimore's Jackson is currently the closest to being a Hall of Fame lock. Allen, a one-time MVP, is close, but Jackson has an edge because of his elite scrambling ability." said Knox.

Allen and Jackson have faced each other seven times in their career, including twice in the playoffs. Jackson has the 3-2 record in the regular season, but Allen has the two playoff wins in which both of those wins resulted in the Bills reaching the AFC Championship game.
From a passing perspective, Allen is by far the better quarterback. He has 7,494 more passing yards and 33 more passing touchdowns, per StatHead Football. Oh, and let’s not forget that Allen has 79 rushing touchdowns compared to Jackson’s 35.
Since Knox stated that Jackson has the edge because of his rushing ability, it’s important to note that Jackson has just 1,801 more rushing yards than Allen, per StatHead Football.
Allen has more playoff success and is the much better passing stats than Jackson. He has taken his team farther than Jackson on a consistent basis, and Jackson has only had two seasons of suiting up for every regular season game. Allen hasn't missed a game since his rookie season.
To say that Jackson is more than likely to be in the Hall of Fame instead of Allen is just plain silly. They are both dynamic quarterbacks, and they should go down as two of the best to ever play. But Allen has done more on the field and has had a little bit less to work with on a consistent basis than Jackson.
