The Buffalo Bills couldn't get it done in Arrowhead Stadium, losing the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs and having to watch the NFL's villains advance to yet another Super Bowl. As if his team's win wasn't enough, Chiefs rookie receiver Xavier Worthy couldn't just celebrate the moment and had to rub it in.
When speaking to the media after the game, Worthy was asked if there was extra motivation for him against the Bills. Worthy responded, "They skipped on me. That's their loss."
For those who might be confused by this response, let's backtrack. In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chiefs and Bills swapped spots and Kansas City went on to draft the speedster out of Texas to help bolster their offense. It was a move that, at the time, had people wondering if the Bills would come back to regret the decision because they were the team that had swapped spots with K.C. in the 2017 draft that allowed for them to draft Patrick Mahomes.
Well, Worthy was clearly still steamed about the Bills' decision to pass on him and let the Chiefs take him instead. Never mind that now he's heading to a Super Bowl as a rookie, he's too focused on one of many teams that passed on him.
Chiefs WR blasts the Bills for passing on him in the draft
Worthy had six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown in the loss, proving that he's become the weapon that Mahomes and the Chiefs offense needed. This is obviously bad news for the Bills.
The Bills went on to draft Keon Coleman with the first pick of the second round of the draft and he finished the year with 556 yards and four touchdowns. Worthy had 638 yards and four touchdowns so he did put together the better year but it's still early for both players. Plus, they're very different receivers.
Bills fans aren't going to hear the end of this at least not as long as the Chiefs are winning big games and playing in Super Bowls. If Worthy wins a Super Bowl in his first year with the Chiefs, it's going to be even more of a nightmare because, once again, the Bills allowed for the Chiefs to add a key playmaker (and one that helped them beat Buffalo in a playoff game).
Worthy had spoken about how the Bills didn't want him before the game as well so rest assured that we haven't heard the end of this. Worthy's animosity toward Buffalo is going to be a headache so Bills fans better hope that Coleman ends up being a good player or else this one could sting for a long time.
