Joe Brady has gotten off to a strong start as a first-time head coach for the Buffalo Bills. Have things been perfect? No, not even close. However, we can’t dispute the fact that he has the Bills starting on a strong note at 3-1. It may not be an impressive 3-1 record when you look at who they have beaten (and who they lost to), but the record shows who they are.

The Bills are still trying to figure things out with Jim Leonhard's defense, and now the offense has some messes to clean up after the way that they have performed the last two weeks against the Chargers and the Patriots.

Out of the 4 games that they have played, the Bills have scored the game's first set of points in 2 out of the 4. In their last two games against the Chargers and Patriots, they went down early on.

Week 5 intel gives insights that may have been overlooked (and Joe Brady needs to do something differently)

ESPN's Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler gave fans some intel heading into Week 5 around the league, and Graziano was able to provide some insight about the Bills starting off every game so far this season with the ball.

Graziano wrote "He [Joe Brady] told his offense before the first game of the season that if they won the toss, they would elect to take the ball first instead of deferring their choice to the second half, the way most teams do (and the Bills generally did under Sean McDermott)."

"Is it working? Sort of: The Bills are 3-1, but they've scored points on only one of their four opening drives this year, and they've allowed points on their opponents' opening drive of the second half in three of the four games." Graziano added.

Bills must consider taking new approach to start out games this season (if possible)

Now granted, if an opponent wins a coin toss and defers to the second half, then you don't have a choice. However, Buffalo's new approach of them starting out with the ball if they win the coin toss is not exactly working.

Graziano broke down each of the four games and the only game where the Bills scored on the opening drive of the game was against the Detroit Lions.

Don't get me wrong, I like the aggressiveness of Brady and trying to set the tempo. At the same time, we now have a sample size of how valuable this approach has been. Right now, it's not working. Aside from Week 2 against the Lions, the Bills have been in one-score games up until the end.

With their defense still figuring things out and getting off to slow starts, if puts pressure on them to deliver early if Josh Allen and the offense can't get on the board to start the game.
