Even though the Buffalo Bills are in a new era with Joe Brady as their new head coach, it is not uncommon to see general manager Brandon Beane make moves that Bills fans have been seeing from him since his arrival in 2017. Beane has helped build the Bills, along with Sean McDermott, but he is still in the building with motivation to prove that he can help bring a Super Bowl to Buffalo.
One of Beane’s biggest swings that he has taken as the GM of the Bills was making a splash signing in 2022 when he signed future Hall of Famer edge rusher Von Miller to a six-year, $120 million deal. Miller, who was coming off a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, was brought to Buffalo to be the closer that the Bills didn’t have on defense.
Von Miller's tenure with Bills started off strong (and then went downhill fast)
After starting off with 8 sacks in 2022 with the Bills, Miller would then tear his ACL on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions which ended his season. In 2023, Miller was on the PUP list that kept him out for the first four games, and he was not the same player that he started out in 2022 to the point where he didn't record a single sack, and was a healthy scratch at times.
While he bounced back a little bit in 2024 with six sacks, the Bills ended up releasing Miller in the 2025 offseason and replaced him with Joey Bosa. Miller went on to sign with the Washington Commanders. He showed the NFL that he still had plenty of juice left in the tank with 9 sacks, but it didn't help the Commanders go far at all last season.
Throughout this offseason, Bills fans had wondered if Miller would ever come back for a reunion to give another shot at helping Buffalo win a Super Bowl. Brandon Beane didn't close the door on a potential reunion, however that won't be happening anymore. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Miller is expected to sign with the Dallas Cowboys, bringing him back to his home state of Texas.

Bills miss out on potential reunion with Von Miller
Now, it shouldn’t confuse fans as to why the Bills didn’t sign Miller. They went out and brought in some outside linebacker help with Bradley Chubb, T.J. Parker, and Mike Danna. Not to mention, Greg Rousseau was also moved more outside so signing Miller would have created a very crowded room.
At the same time, a potential reunion would have been great to see considering that Miller is built for a 3-4 scheme, which is what Jim Leonhard is running in Buffalo. Instead, Miller is staying the NFC East and signing with Dallas on what will be a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
