The defense for the Buffalo Bills has to improve before next week's trade deadline, but it won't be easy for them to do so. According to OverTheCap.com, the Bills currently have just $3.9 million to work with. It's not the worst, but it certainly creates a challenge on making a big impact.

The big problem that the Bills have is on defense, specifically in the secondary so it would make sense for them to address the safety position, or perhaps add a corner. However, adding a linebacker wouldn't be the worst decision and Seth Walder of ESPN.com listed an underrated linebacker that the Bills should be going after.

Bills could use NFC South LB help to boost defense

With the trade deadline approaching next Tuesday, Walder believes that the Bills should be going after Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Yaya Diaby:

"He would provide a jolt of pass rush to a defense that badly needs it. Buffalo ranks 26th in pass rush win rate, but Diaby's win rate at edge is in the 97th percentile this season, and he has 3.0 sacks. The Bills are in a tight cap situation, but Diaby is a pending free agent." Walder wrote.

Diaby is an intriguing player and he is definitely a solid pass rusher. While creating a pass rush isn't Buffalo's biggest problem, it could always use an improvement. It sometimes feels like Greg Rousseau is the only consistent pass rusher, and even he sometimes disappears.

One important factor about Diaby is that he has never missed a game in his career. That itself is extremely valuable. In addition, he's got 22 sacks and 158 total tackles in his career.

Buccaneers could become sellers before trade deadline

The NFC South is the worst division in football with all 4 teams having losing records. The Buccaneers and Falcons are tied for 2nd place at 3-5. While Tampa has ripped off two consecutive wins, they are in for a major uphill battle in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears. If the Buccaneers fall to 3-6 on the year, maybe they would consider trading away some pieces to gain draft capital.

With Diaby being in the final year of his rookie contract, the Bills could make their case to trade a lower draft pick to acquire Diaby as a true rental for the remainder of the season.

Right now, Buffalo should be focused on gaining immediate help to go all in somehow. Diaby may not be that splash trade that Bills fans would be looking for, but he would provide an upgrade at a position that can make or break a game.
