When you think about the kind of season the Buffalo Bills had, there were a ton of ups and downs which did cause some frustration amongst fans. The one area that the Bills didn’t need to worry about was in the backfield that had a dynamic trio of James Cook, Ray Davis, and Ty Johnson.

Cook was the best back in football and Davis established himself as one of the most dangerous special teams players this season. As for Johnson, he continued to be a great complimentary back to Cook who runs hard and can catch passes out of the backfield.

Cook and Davis’ seasons both impressed the NFL so much that they were voted to the Associated Press 2025 NFL All-Pro Team, per Rob Maaddi. Cook was voted as a Second-Team All-Pro and Davis made it as a First-Team All-Pro on special teams.

Bijan Robinson was voted as a First-Team All-Pro which is kind of surprising seeing as how Cook had more rushing yards and touchdowns than Robinson. On the other hand, Robinson did fly by Cook as far as receiving stats so maybe that played a role into it. Either way, Cook gets his well-deserved recognition and so does Davis.

Cook led the league with 1,621 yards, which made him the first Bill to do so since 1976 and it was the third-most in a season in team history. In over half of the games this season, Cook ran for over 100 yards, including going for over 200 yards in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers.

As for Davis on special teams, he led the NFL with an average of 30.4 yards returned per kick. He had 943 kickoff return yards off of 31 returns. Davis had one kickoff return for a touchdown in Week 12 against the Houston Texans where he spun off of a defender and saw nothing but grass in front of him.

For as inconsistent the Bills were at times this season, seeing two of their running backs get some well-deserved recognition is great sighting for fans. Cook and Davis will be playing important roles in the playoffs and it starts tomorrow against Jacksonville.
