Bills fans are hoping that the front office for the Buffalo BIlls makes a move to improve their secondary. Up to this point, they are among the worst units in terms of stopping the pass and it’s clear that what Jim Leonhard has implemented is not working.
Now granted, it’s only been six games in a new system. At the same time, there is an expectation that things improve over time. Right now, who knows if that will ever happen with the way things are going.
With Buffalo getting ready for the Baltimore Ravens this week, they did make a move after their Week 6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, but it wasn't a surprising move at all. The Bills had signed CB Tre'Davious White to their practice squad, making it his third stint with the team.
Bills bringing back Tre'Davious White was no surprise (but it's not enough)
First, it's not a surprise to see a reunion with someone that has made an impact for Buffalo going back to 2017. The Bills drafted White in 2017 out of LSU in which he became a shutdown corner early on in his career. Then after dealing with injuries in 2021 and 2023 (both season-ending injuries), White was released by the Bills and then signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024.
White spent the first half of that season with the Rams, and was then traded to the Baltimore Ravens to finish out 2024. Then in 2025, the Bills brought White back on a one-year deal in which he played some solid football throughout the season.
Once the Bills made their coaching switch two days after their Divisional Round loss to the Denver Broncos, that's when everything was up in the air. Players that were on expiring contracts were bound to leave, and plenty of them did, which included White.
However, White remained a free agent going into this season but then the Bills brought him back to the practice squad. He was back on the practice field on Wednesday for the first time this season, and when speaking to the media, he talked about what it was like watching the games earlier this season but then went into a specific setup he had when watching the Bills take on the Rams in their Week 5 thriller.
Tre'Davious White's comments about watching Bills-Rams show he was ready to come back
In a video by Dan Fetes of 13WHAM, White was asked about how often he watched the Bills and what he was like watching the games.
"It's tough, man. I was a spectator. I didn't watch the first game, but the last five I was tuned in. It's hard for me to watch the last game, I mean the game before we played LA, I actually had my helmet on for the game and watching it in my game room." said White.

I can imagine that it's tough to watch NFL games when you have been part of the league for a long time, especially if you aren't ready to walk away. With White's comments about him having his helmet on while the Bills were playing the Rams in the game of the year up to this point, that just shows that he was ready to get back into action.
Even though he is on the practice squad right now, it's just a matter of time before the Bills bring him up for gameday. With the Bills needing all kinds of help in the secondary, it doesn't hurt to give White a shot and see what he can bring to this new defense under Jim Leonhard.
