The Buffalo Bills are going into their bye week after a close 33-30 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, but we all know that time doesn’t stop in the NFL for the front office. While the players will get some rest, the front office should still be looking for ways to improve whether it’s through the free agent market or focusing on college scouting.
Just one day after their win out west, the Bills are bringing back a familiar face in cornerback Tre’Davious White, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. White will sign with the Bills’ practice squad, where he will get acclimated before coming up to the active roster.

White turned down several opportunities to return to Buffalo. White started 16 regular-season games and two playoff games last season.

Tre'Davious White returns to Buffalo for third stint (and no one should be surprised)
After spending 2017-2023 with the Buffalo Bills to start out his career, White was released by the Bills in 2024 and spent that season with the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens. In the offseason last year, he was brought back on a one-year deal to help bring veteran stability in the secondary.
White played some solid football last year, but with all of the changes that the Bills went through in the offseason, it truly felt like his time with the Bills was over, especially with the change in a defensive scheme. However, he is now coming back to join a secondary that desperately needs the help.
Buffalo's pass-defense is among one of the worst in the league, allowing 285 yards per game through the air which includes three conseuctive games of allowing Drake Maye, Matthew Stafford, and Kirk Cousins to throw for 300+ yards. The only defense worse than them are the Detroit Lions.
Bringing White back gives the Bills familiarity, and an extra defender in the secondary who could potentially play a little bit of safety if needed. He should be quality depth behind Christian Benford and Davison Igbinosun on the outside. Now with C.J. Gardner-Johnson being suspended for Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens, there could be a chance we see White suited up and playing deeper in the secondary than what we have seen before.
This may not be the exact move that fans were looking for, but it is a step in trying to fix this pass-defense. They cannot keep allowing opposing quarterbacks to throw wherever they want, and whenever they want. There has to be better coverage all-around because if this doesn't improve, the Bills are destined for another heartbreak come January.
