There is no celebrating a win this week for the Buffalo Bills. They had the chance to move to 4-0 on the season, but the New England Patriots threw a wrench into those plans by beating the Bills in Buffalo, 29-26.
This is the second year in a row where Drake Maye and the Patriots have walked into Orchard Park and taken down the Bills. Instead of the Bills taking a commanding lead in the AFC East, the Patriots are now just half a game behind them and control the tiebreaker. So, if the Patriots win and the Bills lose next week, New England will climb up into first place of the division. That exact same scenario happened last season.
The Bills are now 3-1, which is still great through the first four games of the season. At the same time, rookie head coach Joe Brady now faces his first true adversity test for the Bills.
Joe Brady is tasked to get Bills back on track after Week 4 loss
It was only a matter of time before Brady was handed his first loss. However, having it being from the Patriots is a bit of a sour taste, especially since it happened in Orchard Park. Either way, losses like that are always going to happen.
It's easy to celebrate the wins, whether they were a blowout or a close one. It's not always easy to bounce back from a loss. This is where we will see how Brady responds to this situation, especially now that the Bills are going to be heading out west in Week 5 and Week 6 before their bye week. That's not a small task to accomplish.
Upcoming games won't be easy for Joe Brady to get Bills back on track
The Bills will now turn their attention for a Monday night battle out in Los Angeles as they get ready for a Rams team that could have Aaron Donald back after missing Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Then just six days later, the Bills will head to Las Vegas to take on a Raiders team that has shocked the NFL world with their quick start at 3-1. Heck they even had a chance to beat the Chiefs on Sunday but came up just short.
Again, it's one loss for Brady. However, it's who they lost to and how they lost that hurts the most. Going across the country for the Bills' next two games, Brady is going to have see what went wrong in Week 4 and make the necessary adjustments if the Bills want to stay ahead in the AFC East.
With the Bills taking on two tough opponents, and the Patriots facing the Raiders and Jets at home the next two weeks, Buffalo is in a position where they are now facing immense pressure. That's where Brady has to step up and show that he can overcome it.
