Sports are supposed to be fun, but there’s always the risk of some gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, devastating pain, and that’s exactly what the Buffalo Bills are dealing with right now. The Bills lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 13-12, and they absolutely should have won the game. After scoring a touchdown with five second left, the Bills went for two, and Josh Allen missed a wide-open receiver on what would’ve been a game-winning conversion.

Simply put, it was a throw Allen has to make, and legendary quarterback Tom Brady, who was on the call for the game, explained that. Analyzing the replay of the brutal miss, Brady explained, “Oh, he had him. And Josh knows it,” breaking down the full play, detailing, “[Allen] came off the fake, Shakir started in, then back out. Had him open by three or four yards and just tugged it left. He's got to put it on his body. It's kind of drifting left. The tendancy is to pull it left. He knows it."

Tom Brady breaks down Josh Allen’s indefensible missed throw

Of course Bills fans were frustrated, but no one was more upset than Allen, who was visibly beside himself walking off the field. While the miss was indefensible, and the Bills should be celebrating their 12th win of the season, it’s tough for fans to be too hard on Allen, who has put on his cape for Buffalo numerous times — including on the final drive where Allen scored the touchdown to set up the two-point attempt. All the Bills can do for now is sit in pain while acknowledging that Josh Allen is human.

Buffalo’s loss secured an AFC East title for the New England Patriots, ending a five-year reign for the Bills. The good news, though, is that the Bills have still secured a wild card spot already, and will be in the postseason after the regular-season finale next week. Before getting to the playoffs, Buffalo has a game against the 3-13 New York Jets on Sunday. That should be an opportunity for Josh Allen and the Bills to get back on track before the postseason.
