One of the biggest storylines of the Buffalo Bills offseason is what they will do at the wide receiver position. After extending talented slot receiver Khalil Shakir, the Bills are set to pay up for another starter alongside Shakir and Keon Coleman. Who that will be remains to be seen, but they’ve been linked to a handful of pass catchers already.
There’s already a long list of talented wide receivers that are hitting the open market next week, meaning some teams may be willing to wait and see who’s left after the initial wave hits. The Bills will be one of them, so let’s narrow it down to the top three free agent wide receivers the Bills could target.
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown
The speedy Hollywood Brown is set to hit the free agent market again, one year after signing a $7M deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite a 2024 season plagued by injuries, Brown is still a great option who can cause issues for defenses.
Brown has put up some impressive numbers throughout his career, most recently totaling 574 yards and four touchdowns despite only playing with Kyler Murray for eight games. The Bills are missing a deep threat like Brown, and he may not cost that much, with Spotrac projecting him to sign for $8M annually.
*Update*: Per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Hollywood Brown is re-signing with the Kansas City Chiefs on a one-year deal.
Davante Adams
Adams, who’s 32 years old, may be looking to continue playing with Aaron Rodgers. However, if he decides to chase a ring, the Bills should come calling. Signing Adams goes along with the big jump ball receiver the Bills have shifted towards, but he won’t come cheap.
Spotrac projects him to sign a deal averaging $13.6M per year. Adams played well last year, totaling 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns between the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders.
Brandin Cooks
The Bills have a huge need for a speedy deep-threat receiver, and much like Hollywood Brown, Cooks fills that role perfectly. Cooks dealt with some injuries in 2024, only playing in 10 games. However, in 2023 when Cooks was healthy he saw a pretty solid season, totaling 657 yards and eight touchdowns on 54 receptions.
At 31 years old, Cooks may be in the same boat as Adams, and only receive a short contract anywhere he goes. Cooks fits in well with this offense that already has a jump ball guy and a slot receiver to work over the middle of the field. If Spotrac is correct and his price is only $5M this should be a no-brainer for Buffalo.
