Free agency has been a lot of fun for the Buffalo Bills and the fans as general manager Brandon Beane has made a lot of solid moves. Beane has done it all this week. Whether it’s extending players in house, bringing in quality free agents, and even making a trade to move on from a first-round bust and still manage to get some draft picks in the trade.
Beane has attacked the defensive side of the ball, signing multiple defensive linemen, bringing back Damar Hamlin on a one-year deal, as well as providing another safety in Darrick Forrest to provide competition on the backend of the defense. He’s also made one signing on offense with the acquisition of wide receiver Josh Palmer.
With all of Buffalo’s moves up to this point, there is one huge need that is left for Beane to address. They desperately need to upgrade their cornerback position. Kaiir Elam was traded away to the Dallas Cowboys and Rasul Douglas still remains as a free agent.
Bills Mafia can realistically expect the Bills to get a corner with one of their first three picks, and the Bills get the perfect cornerback prospect in a CBS Sports NFL mock draft written by Chris Trapasso.
CBS Sports mock draft has Bills getting CB Trey Amos from Ole Miss
"The Bills desperately need more athleticism in the cornerback room, and Trey Amos can provide exactly that."Chris Trapasso, CBS Sports
Trapasso is spot on with this statement. Christian Benford is a true lockdown corner and Bills fans are hoping that he can get his extension. Taron Johnson is one of the beck nickel backs in the league as well. Outside of them two, Buffalo is super weak at that position. With the Bills landing someone like cornerback Trey Amos out of Ole Miss, it immediately gives the Bills someone to come in and immediately play opposite of Benford.
Amos played at three colleges in his career. He started at Louisiana, then transferred to Alabama before finishing his career at Ole Miss. He can excel in man-to-man and zone coverage, but he tends to have better success playing in a zone which is exactly what the Bills love running.
With the Rebels last season, Amos had 13 pass breakups and 3 interceptions. If he somehow falls to the Bills late in the first round, this should be a no-brainer move for Buffalo to make. It would be a huge win.
