The Buffalo Bills have made a huge free agent splash late tonight as they have agreed to terms with edge rusher Joey Bosa on a one-year deal worth $12.6 million according to Adam Schefter. Bosa was released by the Los Angeles Chargers as a cap casualty and will now leave the west coast to come join the Bills.

The five-time Pro Bowler comes in as Von Miller heads out of Buffalo, which still gives the Bills that veteran edge rusher presence for guys like Greg Rousseau, A.J. Epenesa, and Javon Solomon. Bosa is the second Charger to join the Bills during this free agency period, as Buffalo signed wideout Josh Palmer on the first day of the free agency frenzy.

At 29 years old, Bosa is still in his prime but is slowly approaching the backend. Getting him for this type of money is an absolute steal for the Bills as long as he stays healthy.

The former Defensive Rookie of the Year back in 2016 has made a career of being a ferocious edge rusher who can create massive pressure. However, the biggest concern is the injury history. Bosa did play in 14 games last season, but he only played in 14 total games from 2022-2023 due to injuries.

There is no question that his injury history will be a concern, but if he manages to stay healthy for the Bills, he should be an immedaite game-changing player for this Buffalo defense. Beane managed to make the big swing with this signing. After a little bit of a quiet start to the tampering period, the Bills just put the final exclamation point on day two with signing Bosa. The fact that Bosa is leaving the west coast, where he has been throughout his career (not to mention having the potential chance to play with his brother in San Francisco), to come to Buffalo is unreal.

Even though it’s just a one-year deal, it’s a prove it-like deal for Bosa at $12.6 million. Again, if the health stays upright, then this is the perfect free agent signing for the Bills.

Bosa brings 72 career sacks, 343 total tackles, and 17 forced fumbles. He brings a lot of production to the Bills defense and now he can be a little bit of a mentor of the young guys in the edge rusher room.
