The Buffalo Bills must be better defensively if they want to reach their ultimate goal of winning Super Bowl LX. That's why many were disappointed to see them fail to address that side of the ball, specifically the secondary, at the NFL's 2025 trade deadline.

Fortunately for Bills general manager Brandon Beane, another opportunity to upgrade the roster and defensive backfield presents itself. The Tennessee Titans reportedly granted veteran safety Quandre Diggs' request to be released, subjecting him to waivers.

With a clear need for Diggs' service, the Bills should certainly look into adding him. The five-time reigning AFC East champions are an ideal landing spot if the 11th-year pro goes unclaimed.

Bills second-year defensive back Cole Bishop's breakout campaign doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. However, the same cannot be said for grizzled vet Jordan Poyer, 34, who has looked his age, albeit in a small sample size. Meanwhile, Taylor Rapp is on injured reserve due to a lingering knee issue that seems likely to sideline him for the remainder of the campaign.

In other words, the Bills could use some help in the back end. Diggs would give them some much-needed reinforcements, and a proven commodity at that. He earned three consecutive Pro Bowl bids with the Seattle Seahawks from 2020 to 2022, displaying his ball-hawking ability and knack for wrapping up opponents.

Only four players had more interceptions than Diggs during the aforementioned stretch in Seattle (14), and he also recorded 229 tackles. Despite his time in Tennessee not being as successful, the production is proof of concept, illustrating a physical contributor with a nose for the ball.

Buffalo has arguably the league's most pronounced run funnel this season. They're allowing the second-fewest passing yards per game (169.9) while constantly getting gashed on the ground, giving up the fifth-most weekly rushing yards (141.4). Diggs' skill set can contribute to mitigating their glaring flaw of not being able to slow down opposing ground attacks.

Diggs amassed 30 tackles and a pass deflection across nine contests with the Titans this season. He notably logged just a 57 percent defensive snap share rate, a far cry from the full-time role we've seen him occupy since 2018. Yet, his 66.1 overall Pro Football Focus grade ranks 32nd out of 90 qualified safeties, showing why a title-or-bust squad like Buffalo should pursue him.
