It’s official, former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has signed his three-year deal with the New England Patriots and will return to the AFC East. Diggs heads to New England after spending last season with the Houston Texans, but only played in eight games before tearing his ACL.

Now, he lands in New England on a three-year deal where it’s actually more of a one-year deal where the Patriots can opt out if things don’t turn out the best on their end. However, there is a chance that Diggs could earn up to $69 million if he performs at a high level. Right now, he’s only guaranteed $26 million.

Just five years ago, Diggs was traded by the Minnesota Vikings to the Buffalo Bills where Diggs would have the greatest years of his career up to this point. With Josh Allen throwing him the ball, Diggs became an All-Pro wideout and was a four-time Pro Bowler. He never had less than 1,183 yards and 8 touchdowns in a season. Not to mention, there was only one season where he didn’t have 160+ targets.

Things started to go south between Diggs and the Bills, which eventually led to Buffalo trading Diggs to Houston and taking on a $30+ million dead cap hit. Buffalo will now see Diggs twice a year when they take on the Patriots.

Diggs was officially introduced by the Patriots today and Diggs had the chance to talk about his new quarterback in Drake Maye, and how Diggs supposedly has been told things about Maye and how he is just like Josh Allen

Stefon Diggs' comments shows just how much he misses Josh Allen

Hearing things about Maye and actually seeing will truly tell just how much he is like Allen. There’s no doubt that Maye proved that he can be a franchise quarterback, based on what he had to work with last season. However, Maye and Allen are two totally different quarterbacks.

Allen is more of an athlete who can hurdle and truck defenders if necessary. Maybe Maye can turn into a solid quarterback, but he has quite a long way to reach the same level as Allen. Since 2018, even though Allen had his struggles, he always had a huge ceiling because of the way he played.

This past season showed that Allen can calm down on the wild play and still be highly productive. He was the reason why the Bills made it as far as they did. It will be interesting to see how Bills vs. Patriots games will be seen as how there might be left over feelings between the Bills and Diggs.
