Signings of Joey Bosa and Larry Ogunjobi should change Bills' draft plans

The Buffalo Bills added two key pieces to a very in-depth defensive line. A star pass rusher in Joey Bosa and a defensive tackle in Larry Ogunjobi. Both signings give the Bills a different outlook on what they could do in this year's NFL draft.

Many scouts have been predicting the Bills would pick a defensive end in the first round. However, with the signing of three defensive linemen (Bosa, Ogunjobi, and Michael Hoecht), that probably isn't the case. Bosa is a great all-around player when healthy. The problem is that he hasn't been healthy, and hasn't played nearly a full season since 2021. Both Ogunjobi and Hoecht have been serviceable and should continue to be in Buffalo.

The biggest need now for Bills is in the secondary

The Bills now have a major hole in the secondary, specifically at cornerback. Christian Benford is the only solidified starter in that position right now, as Rasul Douglas will probably walk in free agency. The only other solid corner on the depth chart is Taron Johnson. Kaiir Elam, whose been a massive disappointment with the Bills, was traded away to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for two draft picks.

The Bills could get a highly rated defensive end in the first roun to beef up the defensive line even more, and draft a corner sometime in the second round. This strategy worked well for the Eagles, as they had many good players on their defensive line, which was the recipe for beating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

If the Bills go the route of drafting a corner in the first round, they may have to either trade up, trade down, or reach for a player. One cornerback that could be a great fit is Trey Amos out of Ole Miss, who is rated as a top-40 player in the class.

Maybe Brandon Beane trades down and gets some extra draft capital to select a cornerback in the early second round. The hole at cornerback is too big to overlook, so unless Beane does something in free agency, the Bills would be almost forced to take a corner with one their picks in the first two rounds.
