Fans of the Buffalo Bills got to see the rest of the league be put on notice when Josh Allen was ranked as the top quarterback going into the 2026 season, in which he was ranked by executives, coaches, and scouts across the league, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Quite frankly, no one should be surprised to see Allen at the top because everyone knows that he is the one that is the best quarterback. He may not be the runaway best quarterback because there is some top talent, but the Bills clearly have the best quarterback and it’s not debatable.

However, that doesn’t mean that the Bills won’t have their challenges against some of the best quarterbacks this upcoming season.

Bills fans see just how tough QB competition will be in 2026

In that same piece by Fowler on ESPN, while Allen was ranked as the best quarterback in the NFL heading into this season, there were other quarterbacks in the Top 10 that will face the Bills this season. In fact, there were 7 quarterbacks that were voted into the Top 10 going into this season:

Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs (Week 12 - Thanksgiving Night)

Matthew Stafford - Los Angeles Rams (Week 5 - Monday Night Football)

Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens (Week 8)

Justin Herbert - Los Angeles Chargers (Week 3)

Drake Maye - New England Patriots (Weeks 4 & 13)

Jared Goff - Detroit Lions (Week 2 - Thursday Night Football)

Caleb Williams - Chicago Bears (Week 15)

These other 7 quarterbacks are some of the best in the game, and Buffalo's defense is going to be put to the challenge. Everyone know that Allen vs. Mahomes is the new Brady vs. Manning rivalry. Stafford is the reigning MVP and will be looking to lead a stacked Rams roster. Jackson is still one of the league's best dual threat against any opponent.

Herbert has a ton of talent, but has just been hit with bad luck throughout his career for various reasons. Drake Maye surprised the Bills last season and gave them trouble in doing so. Goff is one of the league's best pocket-passers and he has one of the best supporting casts in the league. Then you have Caleb Williams who could become the next biggest star in the league.

In addition to these top quarterbacks that were voted, Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers was listed as an honorable mention. Then you also have Bo Nix (Denver Broncos) and C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans) that also received votes.

Overall, the Bills’ defense has some tough matchups from start to finish this season. While having Josh Allen always gives them a massive advantage, that doesn’t mean that they will be perfect against other top quarterback talent.
