Whether you want to admit it or not, the NFL made some questionable scheduled games for the 2025 season. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about the Buffalo Bills’ schedule, but just the overall thinking process of how the schedule was created is a bit confusing.
First, you have an NFC East battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, when it should really be the Eagles hosting the Washington Commanders in a NFC championship rematch from last season. Instead, the NFL is doing whatever they can to get the biggest brand in the biggest games.
Then, the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that didn’t win the Super Bowl last season, is in seven primetime games (including two against the Jaguars and Giants)...that’s a bit too much for the NFL and quite frankly, it’s annoying.
Now granted, like I stated before, the NFL actually gave the Bills a favorable schedule for 2025. They start and finish the regular season at home, don’t have brutal back-to-back games, and have their bye week in Week 7. Not to mention, they have three home primetime games in their first five games.
However, there is one game that the NFL completely dropped the ball on involving the Bills. In Week 6, the Bills will be playing on Monday Night Football on the road against…the Atlanta Falcons. That is quite the random primetime opponent for the Bills and Garrett Podell from CBS Sports seems to think that this matchup is a potential unfair battle for the Falcons, ranking it as the 16th out of 21st best Monday Night game in 2025.
"Atlanta's 169 sacks since 2019 are the fewest in the NFL and 30 less than any other team in that span. Allen registered the second-lowest sack percentage (2.8%) by mere decimal points in 2024 behind only recently retired New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (2.8%). This game could get ugly for the home team in a hurry. "Garrett Podell, CBS Sports
NFL should have given Bills a better MNF opponent
The NFL had the chance to put the Bills on a Monday Night primetime showdown against teams like the Eagles, Chiefs, Bengals, and Buccaneers. Instead, three of those games are 4:25PM games and one is at 1PM. Instead, we have the Bills taking on the Falcons down in Atlanta in what could be a major blowout game for the Bills.
The Falcons have historically had bad defensive play and while they drafted Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. in the first round, Josh Allen is a superstar who knows how to avoid pressure. If Atlanta’s defense can’t contain Allen early on, this game could get messy for the Falcons which is great for the Bills, but maybe not for the NFL.
