Each day that goes by this week is one day closer to an electric showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens. There is so much hype going into this game for many different reasons. The first reason being is seeing Josh Allen vs. Lamar Jackson, the battle of the two leading MVP candidates. Let’s just admit it, both players deserve the award but only one is getting it.
The next biggest headline is that the winner of this matchup may have a potential chance to knock out the Kansas City Chiefs (assuming that they defeat the Houston Texans). The Chiefs knocked the Bills and Ravens out of the playoffs en route to their second consecutive Super Bowl championship.
This weekend is all about this particular matchup in Orchard Park. It just became even more must-watch with some comments that Ravens’ star linebacker Roquan Smith made on NFL Network.
Roquan Smith gives Bills major bulletin board material heading into divisional round
Tom Pelissero and Judy Battista of NFL Network spoke with Roquan Smith about this upcoming game and asked about the overall feeling that the Ravens have. After Smith complimented the entire offense, he finished with a statement saying “I think it’s going to be very simple for us. We just gotta stick to who we are as a group.” Smith talked about how if the Ravens’ defense can make Buffalo’s offense one-dimensional, then “it can create a long day for those guys.”
That’s very bold of Smith to say, considering the fact that the Bills are a completely different team than they were back in Week 4. Let’s not forget that the Bills’ offense alone had a quarterback who was dealing with a broken hand and they lost their number one target in Khalil Shakir early in the game. Not to mention, the Bills were missing three defensive starters in Matt Milano, Terrel Bernard and Taron Johnson. Now Buffalo is a lot more healthier this time around and the offense is clicking on every cylinder.
The Ravens defense is clearly no joke, but they are also vulnerable. Say what you want about how the Buffalo defense has to find a way to stop Lamar Jackson. The Ravens defense has to find a way to stop Josh Allen. Smith giving the Bills bulletin board material should get Bills fans fired up and be extra loud on Sunday night.
