No one can deny the fact that the Buffalo Bills have themselves a tough first month of the regular season in 2026. Four out of their five first opponents were playoff teams (Texans, Chargers, Patriots, and Rams), and the fifth one is the Detroit Lions who have been a problem the last couple of years under Dan Campbell.
After a brutal first five games, the Bills will be in Las Vegas to take on the Raiders who were the worst team in football last year. You would think that this would be an easy win for the Bills, but the Raiders made some great additions on both sides of the ball and added a new young offensive head coach in Klint Kubiak.
The Raiders won’t be Super Bowl contenders, but I wouldn’t put it past them to make a little bit of a playoff push at some point, whether it’s Kirk Cousins or Fernando Mendoza under center.
With that being said, we had the chance to speak with Levi Dombro, who is the Site Expert at Just Blog Baby (coverage for the Raiders), and Dombro provided some great Raiders pre-training camp insights that Bills fans should know about going into training camp.
Looking at pre-training camp insights about Las Vegas Raiders
1.) Both the Bills and Raiders went through head coaching changes this past offseason. Klint Kubiak was a hot name during the process and ultimately landed in Vegas. What are some initial thoughts about him amongst Raiders fans?
"Raider Nation absolutely loves Klint Kubiak. He is the no-nonsense leader that this team has been missing, and his staff already has cohesion unseen in previous years. Fans aren't expecting him to rekindle the flame of last year and have the Silver and Black hoisting a Lombardi Trophy, but the belief in the long-term plan is fully there. This is a rebuilding team, but the perception is that there is no better coach to lead it, as the young offensive mastermind is a great teacher and can make the most of what he has."
2.) Maxx Crosby has always been dominant at his position, but the situation involving him and the Ravens must have really been a bit embarrassing. Do you sense that Crosby is looking to show the NFL that the Ravens made a huge mistake?
"The Maxx Crosby situation was quite hectic this offseason, but it is more embarrassing for Eric DeCosta and the Ravens, in my opinion. And I think the fanbase would echo that sentiment. If Crosby is fully healthy, which he seems to be (and he's had no issue playing through injury anyway, for what it's worth), then the league needs to watch out."
"He was already one of the league's most motivated and hungry players, and now Baltimore has given him a reason to somehow feel underrated or disrespected again. With a better rotation, expect Crosby to play fewer snaps, but with an improved situation around him, expect Crosby to have more of an impact."
3.) The Raiders made a lot of additions this offseason, both in free agency, trades, and through the draft. What is one move that fans are excited for the most and why?
"Fans are most excited for the addition of Tyler Linderbaum. It sounds crazy to get that excited about a center, but we reset the market for him for a reason. That spot is critical for Kubiak's outside zone scheme, and it has been years since the Raiders have had a mobile center who is a connector and leader up front. He is the perfect addition in many ways, and his being a multiplier should help shore up a lot of Las Vegas's offensive line issues from last season."
4.) The Bills and Raiders are set to see each other in Week 6. Do you believe it will be Kirk Cousins or Fernando Mendoza under center?
"That is a tough question to answer at this point. I truly believe that training camp will decide who gets the starting quarterback job, and I wouldn't rule Mendoza out. And even if Cousins wins the battle initially, things may not be going well enough by Week 6 for him to keep the spot. If I had to bet, I'd say it is Cousins you'll face. But Raiders fans are hoping it's Mendoza, by and large."
5.) What is an area of weakness that the Raiders that the Bills could easily attack in Week 6?
"Again, this is a tricky one, because things just look so promising on paper. But the offensive line may have a weak link at the right tackle position, so if your edge rushers can get home, that may mess things up offensively. And it remains to be seen just how upgraded this rushing attack is, so if you can stop the run and force Cousins or a rookie QB in Mendoza to beat you, that probably plays into your guys' favor."
