When the news broke that the Los Angeles Rams were trading for Myles Garrett, it sent massive shock waves across the NFL. Even though the Cleveland Browns are once again going into a season where they are focused on the future rather than the now, seeing a player of Garrett’s caliber getting moved is very shocking.
The Buffalo Bills have become affected by this trade since they are set to take on the Rams in LA in Week 5 for a Monday night battle. The Rams were already going to be a problem, but now with the addition of Garrett, that matchup just got even tougher for the Bills.
Now that the trade between the Rams and Browns is official, it does make you wonder about hypothetical trades that could always come true at some point involving other superstar players. Alex Kay from Bleacher Report created five of those hypothetical trades and one of them involves the Bills acquiring a star wideout from the Minnesota Vikings.
Hypothetical Bills trade has Buffalo going all-in for true Super Bowl run
In one of Kay’s hypothetical trades, the Bills acquire wide receiver Justin Jefferson from the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo would send a haul of draft picks back to Minnesota. The Bills would get Jefferson, and the Vikings would a first, second, and fourth round picks in 2027, as well as a third and fifth round picks in 2028.
Essentially, Buffalo would be giving up a ton in the immediate future for the now, but considering where the Bills are at in their franchise, it may not seem like the worst idea.
"An Allen-Jefferson battery could put up historic numbers akin to what Randy Moss and Tom Brady accomplished with the 2007 New England Patriots. It would cost the Bills a haul of future picks to bring the tandem together, but doing so would give the club perhaps its best shot yet at a championship." said Kay.
An offense that would feature Josh Allen, James Cook, and Justin Jefferson would be nearly unfair for the rest of the league. Not to mention, Jefferson played under Joe Brady when the two were at LSU in 2019.
Buffalo did trade for DJ Moore this offseason, and he is a great upgrade for the wide receiver room. However, the NFL world knows that Jefferson is a Top 3 receiver, and he certainly isn’t No. 3 on the list.
If a trade were to ever occur like this involving the Bills, it would send a message to the fans. That message would be that Buffalo would be going all-in for a Super Bowl.
The Bills have faced criticism because despite them being a Super Bowl contender, they haven’t made that huge trade to land a superstar player in a couple of seasons. The last player that the Bills traded for that provided an immediate impact was Stefon Diggs, who helped the Bills become a true contender.
