The NFL's reigning MVP has been off to another fantastic start to the season in 2025. Josh Allen had led the Bills to a 4-0 start, and he's continued to be the best version of himself. While he did throw one interception against the Saints in a game that got a little too close for comfort, Allen did not let the pressure get to him.

This week, Allen and the Bills take on the New England Patriots, which is likely their toughest matchup yet, at least based on record. The Ravens gave Buffalo trouble, but at 1-3, Baltimore has not been great this year, particularly on defense. The Patriots' defense will give Josh Allen more trouble. They've already given trouble to Aaron Rodgers and Tua Tagovailoa.

Allen, against New England, has been okay in his career. He's 7-6 against the Patriots, in the regular season, per StatMuse, and also holds a 47-17 playoff win over the Patriots from 2022.

The regular season record, however, is not entirely accurate. Allen technically started Week 18 against the Patriots, a game that New England won. However, he played in just the first series, and did not even attempt a pass before Mitch Trubisky came on in relief. So more accurately, his record against New England is 7-5.

Of those five losses, three of them came against Tom Brady. Since Brady left New England, Allen has dominated the Pats, winning seven of his nine full games against them.

Still, the numbers are not incredible. He has a 58.5% completion percentage against New England and averages 198.2 yards per game. He's thrown 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, averaging fewer than two touchdowns per game. Last year, he tossed one touchdown and one pick and completed 16 of 29 attempts in a game the Bills won 24-21.

This time around, Allen faces a New England defense that has been playing well against the run. The Patriots are allowing 77.5 rushing yards per game, tied for the second lowest mark in the league. That means Allen will have to step up to lead Buffalo to victory.

Predicting Josh Allen's Week 5 stats vs. Patriots

I believe he will step up once again. It won't be a legendary statline, but Allen will do enough to lead the Bills to another win, and reach 5-0. He will throw two touchdown passes, completing 64% of his throws and going for 243 passing yards. He won't do much with his legs, but will instead have to sit in the pocket and deal the ball to his weapons.

Most importantly, Allen will take care of the football and won't give it away to New England. At the end of the day, his performance will be enough to take down New England in a 23-20 win at home.
