What did the Buffalo Bills get with signing free agent Mack Hollins?

On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills reportedly came to terms on a contract with now-former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mack Hollins. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the deal is one year and could be worth up to $3 million. 

Hollins did not have the most moving 2023 season. He finished with 251 yards on 18 catches. He did have one of the best yards per catch averages in his career with 13.9. Hollins also had playing stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders. His yards per catch can come in handy for him with his new quarterback Josh Allen who likes to spread the ball down the field.

At 6 feet and 4 inches tall and 221 pounds, Hollins is well over the average size of an NFL wide receiver bringing a physical play style to the game as he can dominate opposing cover corners to get downfield opportunities.

With the Bills' receiving room now clear of Gabe Davis, who signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, and Deonte Hardy who Buffalo cut for cap space. This means that a spot at the wide receiver two spots is open. Not only that, but it also shifts everyone in the position group up on the roster. This can give Hollins more room to shine. He has never had 100 targets in a season during his now seven-year long career in the NFL.

His best season was in 2022 with the Raiders he had a near 700 yards while being targeted 94 times (by far the most targets out of any season). He also maintained a great YPC average at 12.1 times and scored 4 times in silver and black.

Perhaps more exposure to the football from Allen and offensive coordinator Joe Brady can be what he needs to make the Bills offense even more potent.
