Stefon Diggs reported to practice in Orchard Park today amidst the drama from yesterday that had Head Coach Sean McDermott "very concerned". According to sources, even the Buffalo Bills themselves, Stefon was seen in practice alongside quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Gabe Davis, among others.
Seeing Diggs at practice today after yesterday's events will seem like a sigh of relief for Bills fans. Yesterday led a lot of fans to think that Diggs was, in essence, going to force his way out of Buffalo. Needless to say, Buffalo Bills fans were on edge about their star wideout, and rightfully so. However, the quick turnaround from yesterday into today is a positive sign for the Bills and Stefon Diggs.
According to Buffalo Bills Team Reporter, Maddy Glab, Head Coach Sean McDermott said that Stefon reported on time and was "excused from practice" on Tuesday. There were internal conversations between the two parties, but Coach McDermott said that everything between the two parties is "good" and that the team is ready to move forward with Mandatory Minicamp. These comments are quite the U-Turn from his previous comments and shows that the team moved very quickly in ensuring that Stefon and his representatives were satisfied and ready to move forward.
This still begs the question, what exactly went wrong in Orchard Park on Tuesday? Was there a riff with the offensive staff and their current playbook? Were Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott involved? What role did Josh Allen play in this situation? The team seems to be tight-lipped about what exactly happened, a normality in the Brandon Beane front office.
McDermott's comments after practice today are a positive sign moving forward, but Bills fans have every right to worry about the riff moving into the season. What we do know, however, is that Diggs is in Orchard Park practicing, and that should be good enough for Bills fans to sleep at night.
