The Buffalo Bills last season did an excellent job defending tight ends as they only had 616 receiving yards and no receiving touchdowns. This is quite the accomplishment considering the Bills played against tight ends like Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, and T.J. Hockenson.

This is due in large part to players like Matt Milano and Jordan Poyer that match up well in coverage against these types of tight ends. The Bills will need more of the same this season from them as they have a number of good tight ends on their 2023 schedule.

5. Mike Gesicki

The Buffalo Bills know Mike Gesicki very well as he spent the first five years in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins. He was a free agent this offseason and stayed within the division after signing with the New England Patriots.

This spot could have gone to Hunter Henry, who has been productive the past two years with the Patriots, however I believe Gesicki brings more upside to the position. Last year, Gesicki had a down year with only 32 receptions, 362 receiving yards, and five touchdowns but I think that was more due to Mike McDaniel's offense.

In Bill O'Brien's offense, and without a clear number one receiving target for Mac Jones, Mike Gesicki should finish the year with over 80 targets and be a primary focus for this offense.
