Predicting the Buffalo Bills offensive line in 2024 after releasing Mitch Morse

The Buffalo Bills made a number of moves on Wednesday afternoon as they try to get closer to the salary cap for the 2024 season. One of those moves was releasing center Mitch Morse, which might have the biggest impact on the upcoming season.

Morse has been the starting center for the Bills since 2019 and started 77 games over that stretch. Even though, he will be 32 this upcoming season he was playing great football and the Bills had the chance to bring back all five starters from last year.

This type of consistency should have been a strength of the Bills offense but now they have a big hole to fill on their offensive line.

What could the Buffalo Bills starting offensive line look like in 2024?

It seems that the Buffalo Bills have a plan in place to try and replace a big part of their offensive line. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bills plan to move Connor McGovern over to center.

McGovern was a big free agent addition last offseason after starting 15 games for the Dallas Cowboys at guard in 2022. He would end up starting every game at left guard for the Bills.

The move of Connor McGovern now creates a hole at left guard and the Bills will have some options to fill this void. As Rapoport notes, the player in line most likely is David Edwards, who was a free agent signing last year as well. While he didn't play much at guard, he did see an expanded role as a sixth offensive lineman lining up as a tight end.

However, the Buffalo Bills could look at adding another guard either through free agency or the NFL Draft over the next few weeks to compete for the starting job or be depth with Edwards starting.
