NFL trios rankings list displays total disrespect to Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills always face some type of criticism no matter the moves they make. It could be an addition or subtraction and no matter what, there are always going to be opinions about it. It is natural and expected, but some opinions are just outright bad. However, that is part of the game within the NFL and sports overall. 

It is hard to say that the Bills had a great offseason because in all reality, they had bigger losses than they did acquisitions. At the same time, Brandon Beane did the best job possible to still keep the roster near the top as much as possible with a top three quarterback.

While Bills fans should prepare for a potential new look offense, they should also be excited because there is some uncertainty which can actually be an advantage. Even though we saw a glimpse as to what kind of offense Joe Brady operates under, he has had a full offseason to fully prepare and display his offense for a full season.

The biggest changes on the offense for the Bills was the departure of Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs. While they both had great moments in Buffalo, they were not big time contributors down the stretch last season. Instead, guys like Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid were more involved in the passing game which helped the Bills rip off five consecutive wins to steal the AFC East away from the Miami Dolphins.

In a “triplets rankings” list written by Jared Dubin of CBS Sports, the Bills were placed in the top half, but much lower than they should be.

Dubin listed the Bills trio of Josh Allen, James Cook, and Dalton Kincaid. Allen is still one of the top-tier quarterbacks in the league. Cook rushed for over 1,000 yards and added on over 400+ receiving yards and Kincaid was in the top three in terms of targets and receiving yards for the Bills last year as a rookie. 

Dubin listed this trio as the 11th best in the league heading into 2024.

"It's a bit odd to see Josh Allen's team outside the top five, let alone the top 10, but when you downgrade your top pass-catcher from Stefon Diggs to a second-year tight end who averaged 9.2 yards per reception last year, that's the kind of thing that happens. Still, given Allen's otherworldly talent, it feels like the Bills have a lot of upside beyond where they fall in these rankings."

Placing Allen outside of the top ten, let alone the top five is absolutely ridiculous. Two trios that were placed ahead of Buffalo include the New York Jets (Aaron Rodgers, Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson) and the Cincinnati Bengals (Joe Burrow, Zack Moss, Ja’Marr Chase). The Jets had Rodgers for just four plays last year and he has not looked like his MVP self in over two seasons. With the Bengals, Burrow can’t stay healthy and going from Joe Mixon to Zack Moss in the run game is a bit of a downgrade.

There is an understanding to be a little bit hesitant about the Bills, without question. At the same time, when a team has one of the best quarterbacks in the league, the respect should be there and it doesn’t seem like it is there with this ranking.
