NFL analyst predicts Josh Allen goes from 'hero' to 'zero' in 2024
By Ryan Heckman
Over the course of the offseason, Buffalo Bills fans have had to deal with plenty of Josh Allen slander. It seems that everybody has an opinion about Allen, and not many of them are positive, unless coming from a Bills fan.
Whether folks talk about his history and struggle with turnovers or the present situation where he's been left without a true top wide receiver, there are skeptics galore, and to Bills fans, it's getting old.
Well, the skepticism isn't going to stop until Allen emphatically proves them all wrong. And, one NFL analyst seems to fall in line with the critics.
On one of the latest episodes of The Fantasy Footballers Podcast, host Jason Moore gave his listeners a bold prediction. Although, he clarified to start, that this isn't even a bold prediction. He believes it to be true.
Keep in mind, this is in reference to fantasy football. However, much of what he says can be applicable to the real world, and this show is known as the top fantasy football podcast in the world. These three do a wonderful job, give excellent insight and use a multitude of research to back up their analysis.
Now, as for Moore's prediction:
"It's called a bold prediction, however, this is one that I sadly, actually believe in. So I will go so far as to call this, a prediction ... Josh Allen goes from 'hero' to 'zero,'" Moore said.
Moore talked about a few things that are working against Allen, and in reference to the fantasy world, it's his end-of-season schedule that's going to make things tough. Four of the Bills' last seven games are against defenses like the New England Patriots (twice), San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets.
He's got a point. That's a tough way to end the year.
Josh Allen is entering the toughest season since his rookie year
Moore expounded on why he thinks Allen is going to regress significantly, as he mentioned offensive coordinator Joe Brady and how the league typically figures him out real quick.
"He has a new offensive coordinator midway through last year in Joe Brady," Moore went on. "Joe Brady, historically ... he's been in the NFL a lot and he always ends up getting exposed."
He took it even further, digging into the numbers with Allen and Brady together last year.
"If you look at him (Allen) as a passer, with Joe Brady, weeks 11 through 18, he went from a 70 percent completion percentage passer down to a 61 percent passer. He went from a touchdown pace of 32 touchdowns down to 24 with Joe Brady," Moore said.
And of course, Moore had to bring up the Stefon Diggs topic, but didn't stop with Diggs.
"You have someone who lost so many of his targets. Stefon Diggs is gone. Gabe Davis is gone ... 284 vacated targets for the wide receivers," Moore explained.
Once again, these are all valid points. They are, indeed, factual. All this means, though, is that Allen is going to have to prove all of his doubters wrong, Moore included.
Many Bills fans would put Allen up there just below Patrick Mahomes, as the league's no. 2 overall quarterback. The 2024 season is going to be a true test to this theory. Can Allen overcome everything working against him? Or, will he prove the doubters correct?
