The legend of Damar Hamlin keeps growing on Monday Night Football

Every Buffalo Bills fan remembers where they were on the night of January 2, 2023.

It was Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals. The AFC's number one seed was on the line. Josh Allen vs. Joe Burrow.

And then, the unthinkable happened to safety Damar Hamlin.

Since Hamlin's cardiac arrest that night, his story has involved a whole lot more than just football. First and foremost, his story includes the fact that he is, quite literally, a walking miracle. Hamlin not only surviving that night but working his way back to full health and eventually back onto the football field would already be enough for Netflix to come calling.

But his story was far from over. Fast forward and, even beyond making his return to the field, Hamlin has done a lot to inform and improve when it comes to CPR and helping those in need. Hamlin works to revolutionize CPR and AED training while helping more and more become familiar with the subject of cardiac arrest.

Even though all of the off-field work has been far more important than his on-field contributions, it has still been nice to see Hamlin back in a Bills uniform this year. And, once again on Monday Night Football, Hamlin became the center of attention.

In the first half, Hamlin came away with an interception off Trevor Lawrence which, believe it or not, was the first of his career.

In just over three seasons as a pro, Hamlin had previously started 15 games and tallied a combined 109 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, four pass breakups, three quarterback hits and even 1.5 sacks.

Yet, he still did not have an interception ... until now.

Hamlin's first career pick coming on MNF was a story in and of itself. The fact that this stage was once home to a scary, tragic and life-changing moment for Hamlin makes this all the more special.

The sadness which was felt once upon a time for Hamlin, on Monday Night Football, has been turned into pure joy for that very same player and the fan base. Bills Mafia was going ballistic after Hamlin's pick, and those watching on the live TV broadcast even felt it.

It was a moment that will go down, not only in Hamlin's career highlights, but in Bills history.

You won't be able to tell the story of the Buffalo Bills without mentioning Damar Hamlin, and even though tonight's interception was a big moment for the veteran safety, let's once again mention the fact that what he's doing off the field is even more important.
