Latest Aaron Rodgers flattery grossly disrespects Bills' Josh Allen
By Brandon Ray
Heading into every season, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen receives some kind of criticism or disrespect. There is no denying that Allen has some room for improvement, but he seems to always get more harsh criticism than other quarterbacks that are below his tier. Maybe it is because he hasn’t been able to get over the hump in the playoffs. Maybe it is because he does have a little bit of an issue when it comes to turning the ball over.
Both of those facts are correct, but Allen takes a lot more disrespect than recognition. Allen is one of the top quarterbacks in the league, only trailing Patrick Mahomes but because of how the Bills’ offseason has played out, Allen and the Bills are being highly doubted. On paper, it makes sense but we all know that paper means nothing in this league.
One quarterback that has been in the media constantly is none other than Aaron Rodgers from the New York Jets. He seems to find his way into the news somehow and someway. Not to mention, his coverage has not been the best look on him or the Jets. At the same time, fans and analysts are still hyping up Rodgers and the Jets while they are disrespecting Allen and the Bills.
Alex Kay from Bleacher Report created a list of under-the-radar MVP candidates for the 2024 season and of course, Rodgers leads the headline in these predictions. Putting Rodgers over Allen in any kind of MVP talk is nonsense.
"Rodgers is only two years removed from winning the second of his back-to-back MVP awards and his fourth MVP overall. While he left the Green Bay Packers on the heels of a down campaign, the 40-year-old should still have enough left in the tank to help break Gang Green's 13-year playoff drought."
- Alex Kay, Bleacher Report
The problem with this quote is that Rodgers has not looked like himself the last two years. His last year in Green Bay, you could just tell he did not have anything left in him with the Packers. Then we all obviously know what happened to him four plays into the season last year with his achilles. The biggest thing to consider is that Rodgers has a lot more talent around him on the Jets than Allen does on the Bills.
If anything, Allen should replace Rodgers on this list due to the fact that it seems like everyone is thinking that the Jets are Super Bowl favorites while the Bills start to fall down the AFC East. When the Bills and the Jets go against each other twice this season, it is going to be physical and hopefully there are no catastrophic injuries to either team.
