Wide Receivers

This is where it gets a little weird. If you would have told me that Stefon Diggs would have finished as the most targeted weapon for Josh Allen, but finished 5th in terms of receiving yards, that would have been something to dispute immediately.

However, that was the story today with Diggs. As a matter of fact, Gabe Davis was not targeted once in this game. He was more utilized as a blocking receiver. Then there was Dalton Kincaid, who despite being targeted 7 times, finished the game with 6 catches for 46 yards. The leading receiver in yards was slot receiver Khalil Shakir, who had just 3 catches but for 115 yards that included an 81 yard touchdown reception in the second half.

In addition, running back Ty Johnson added on 3 catches for 47 receiving yards and scored on a fourth down play down the sideline. That was the play where the Bills started to pull away from the Jets before the Shakir touchdown. While it was not necessarily the true receivers that did damage, the passing game was still effective. It just was not because of the guys like Diggs and Davis.
