The Buffalo Bills have been in the news this offseason because of their reloading roster after making tough roster cuts with notable veterans. While they took a little bit of a hit from the media, they are not feeling any sort of pressure with the most important position in football at quarterback. However, one of their division rivals is in a predicament with their quarterback and trying to figure out a potential long-term contract and are now feeling a lot of pressure.
The Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa are at an impasse when it comes to coming to an agreement on a contract extension, and the Dolphins are currently at a disadvantage. Tagovailoa reported to training camp but according to Cameron Wolfe from NFL Network, Tagovailoa did not practice which hurt the Miami offense.
With this post from Wolfe, this shows us that the Dolphins’ offense is not the same without Tua which could lead to the Dolphins’ front office budging in these contract negotiations.
This situation should excite Bills fans for different reasons
As much success that Tua has had since Mike McDaniel was hired, he is not a proven franchise quarterback. In an offensive scheme that takes massive amounts of pressure off of him with weapons in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Moster and De’Von Achane, there should be no reason why Tua has as much struggles in clutch situations as he has had. Going against Buffalo in his career, Tua is 1-6 and has 6 touchdowns to 7 interceptions. He only has one game against the Bills where he had more touchdowns than interceptions.
If Miami overpays for Tua and possibly resets the market, the Bills should be ecstatic about it as they have had a lot of success against him and now he will be near the top of their payroll that hurts them with the rest of the roster. In addition to taking up a lot of the payroll, the Dolphins would then have major issues building the roster around Tua on an expensive contract. Tyreek Hill is looking for a newly revamped deal as well and if the Dolphins give Tua the money, Hill could be leaving Miami sooner than later. This drama with the Dolphins and Tua is expected to continue along and Bills fans should be watching closely.
