When the Buffalo Bills made the shocking trade of sending Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, there was a lot of speculation as to how the Bills would recreate the wide receiver room. In addition, Gabe Davis had also left the Bills and signed with Jacksonville so Buffalo had some really big question marks. Before trading Diggs away, the Bills managed to sign wide receiver Curtis Samuel to a three-year deal, giving Buffalo the ability to utilize him in both the pass and the run.

Samuel is finally on a team with an elite quarterback in Josh Allen after spending time with the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders. Not to mention, Samuel reunites with Joe Brady where he was Samuel’s offensive coordinator in 2020 during his career year.

During the Bills’ second practice at training camp, Samuel managed to have his own breakout day according to Matt Parrino. It was mentioned that Samuel was all over the field and that it is becoming more clear about the kind of impact that Samuel can bring to this offense.

Samuel’s presence could make Bills fans not miss Stefon Diggs

When Diggs was in Buffalo, he obviously brought alot of talent and ultimately helped Allen become the quarterback that he is today. However, the last two years were drama filled with Diggs and the Bills. Once Buffalo figured out that they could win without needing Diggs, it was time to make the bold move of removing Diggs from the team.

While Diggs has a lot more natural talent as a receiver, Samuel brings a skillset that Joe Brady can utilize in multiple ways. Samuel can line up outside the numbers, go into the slot, as well as line up in the backfield. With Parrino reporting that Samuel was explosive in practice, it should show Bills fans that while Diggs brought great memories, Samuel can bring memories in more than one capacity.
