Dalton Kincaid disrespectfully left off important B/R list
By Brandon Ray
The Buffalo Bills offense have been in continuous coverage due to their various departures of players like Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. With the overhaul that they have had the wide receiver position this offseason, there are other rising stars who are being overlooked. For example, running back James Cook had a breakout season in his second year in 2023 being the first Bill since LeSean McCoy to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. Cook is proof that the Bills are able to run the ball effectively without making Josh Allen the primary runner.
However, even someone that is bigger than Cook who has the chance to have himself a fantastic 2024 season is tight end Dalton Kincaid. Playing as an important pass catcher to this Buffalo offense last year, Kincaid will have an even bigger role with a full-time offensive coordinator in Joe Brady. There is versatility with Kincaid, who can play off the line of scrimmage or outside the numbers. Brady will have the chance to utilize Kincaid in multiple ways for this new look offense.
Kincaid finished 2023 with 673 yards off of 73 receptions. However, he only managed to get into the endzone twice. Bills fans are hoping that Kincaid can make a huge jump in touchdowns.
There is no doubt that Kincaid has the talent to become one of the best tight ends in the league. While it will take him awhile to get to the same level as Travis Kelce and George Kittle, Kincaid has the potential to solidify himself as a top five tight end by the time next season ends. Even though Kincaid has caught the attention of the majority of NFL fans, there are still some people that are overlooking him.
The NFL recently released the Top 100 list of players in which the Bills had Dion Dawkins and Josh Allen making the list. Alex Kay from Bleacher Report created a list of NFL players that have the potential to break into that list for next year. Only one player from the AFC East made it onto Kay’s list and it was not Kincaid. Instead, it was New York Jets running Breece Hall.
Kincaid has a higher upside to earn a spot on Top 100 list
When you look at Kay’s list, it features Breece Hall, Jaylon Johnson, Trent McDuffie, Anthony Richardson, and Bijan Robinson. All five of them are deserving to be mentioned in this list for their own reason, but leaving Kincaid out of the conversation is just disrespectful.
Not only did Kincaid shine down the stretch for the Bills last season, but the Bills’ wide receiver room doesn’t have a clear cut number one receiver. Instead, the Bills could shift to making Kincaid the “number one target” for Allen. It is unlikely that the Bills will be playing the long ball game where they chuck the ball down the field more than 20 yards. Instead, there is a better chance they will play the short field game and that is where Kincaid can shine the most.
