Another disappointing playoff exit for the Buffalo Bills has left the team up in the air with many questions rather than answers. Not to mention, they also have a good amount of big contracts to have to deal with. One of those contracts belongs to wideout Stefon Diggs, who signed a four-year contract extension with the Bills in 2022 for $96 million. Last offseason, after the Bills' playoff exit against the Cincinnati Bengals, the rumors started to spiral about Diggs wanting to get out of Buffalo.

With cryptic tweets and lack of communication, things were not looking great for the Bills going into training camp. Eventually, it all wore off and the Josh Allen-to-Stefon Diggs connection skyrocketed to start the season. In the first six games of the season, Diggs caught over 100 receiving yards in 5 of them and reeled in 5 touchdowns.

From Week 7 and on, Diggs failed to reach 90 receiving yards in a game and only brought in 3 touchdowns for the rest of the season. He would finish the season with 107 receptions, 1,183 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Sure, Diggs was not the biggest contributor from the middle of the season and on but it shows that the Bills did not need Diggs to play like the best player on the field to win. Other options Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, James Cook, and Ty Johnson helped down the stretch.

Could the Bills actually trade away Stefon Diggs before next season?

The simple answer is no. Buffalo cannot afford, both financially and talent wise, to ship off Diggs somewhere else. Let's face it, Diggs is the reason why Allen's game has been elevated to the level it is at. Without Diggs, Allen would not be in the MVP conversation each year. Not to mention, with the Bills more than likely losing Gabe Davis to free agency, Diggs is the only true threat at the receiver position the Bills have.

With that being said, anything can change from now until the start of the season. However, it would have to take a lot to happen for Brandon Beane and the front office to make the move to send Diggs anywhere else.
