Colin Cowherd might have cooked up his worst Josh Allen take yet
The Buffalo Bills are 2-0 and life is good for the fanbase. That didn't stop Colin Cowherd from throwing shade at Josh Allen on his show earlier in the week. Cowherd was ranking the quarterbacks and put Allen at number four.
His discussion on Allen starts positively enough, noting that Allen has yet to commit a turnover (even though that's not true so Cowherd's already off to a rough start here ). On this topic, Cowherd said about Allen, "He's very coordinator-dependent." Cowherd continued by saying that Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow aren't coordinator-dependent.
Okay, hold up here. Cowherd is saying that Allen is dependent on his offensive coordinator? Since when was that the case? The Bills quarterback hurdles over guys and makes plays happen when most other quarterbacks would probably give up on the play. How is that being coordinator-dependent?
Colin Cowherd doesn't know what he's talking about with Josh Allen
While Allen's numbers have been better since Joe Brady was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023, that does not mean that Allen is dependent on him. In fact, it shows how good of a quarterback Allen is when he had Ken Dorsey who proved not to be very good at his job during the 2023 season.
It also means that Allen and Brady are on the same page about things. Brady comes up with plays and schemes that Allen is good at executing. When Dorsey was running the offense, that clearly wasn't the case, especially toward the end. Allen was doing all he could to keep his team in games but eventually it was clear that Dorsey had to go.
Cowherd's job is to rile people up and get them to talk about his show so mission accomplished there. This was a comment that shows Cowherd doesn't watch Josh Allen much and therefore knows very little about his game.
