3.) Buffalo Bills - loss to New York Jets, 22-16 in overtime

On Monday night, under the lights in New York City in Aaron Rodgers’ debut, NFL fans received the complete opposite expected game when Rodgers went down with an injury four plays into the Jets’ first offensive drive and would be ruled out with an ankle injury. It was Leonard Floyd who came up with the sack that knocked Rodgers out of the game, and possibly the rest of the season. Zach Wilson stepped back into the starting quarterback position, but it was the Jets’ defense that dominated the game against the Bills.

Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen threw three interceptions and fumbled late in the fourth quarter that kept the Jets in the game. The offensive line was pushed around, and the Jets’ defense ended up being the x-factor that handed the Bills their first loss of the season.

The Bills could not get the run game going, and Allen looked like the most underperforming quarterback in all of Week 1. On the plus side, the Bills defense managed to make some great plays that ultimately kept the Bills from losing in regulation. However, the final nail on the coffin took place in overtime when the Bills could not pick up a first down and punted it to rookie Xavier Gipson who returned it for a touchdown to seal the victory for the Jets.

The Bills will have their home opener next week as they host the Las Vegas Raiders, who are coming off a 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos.
