3.) New York Jets (4-4) - loss vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 27-6
The Jets’ defense only allowed two rushing touchdowns, and actually contained Justin Herbert who only completed just over 50% of his throws and 136 yards. Austin Ekeler was kept under 50 rushing yards, but managed to get into the endzone twice. Outside of Keenan Allen, the passing game was not outstanding. As a matter of fact, Jets’ quarterback Zach Wilson passed for 263 yards but no touchdowns and no interceptions. So, what exactly happened to the Jets in this game?
The Chargers’ defense showing up is what happened to this Jets offense. They managed to sack Wilson 8 times for a total of 57 yards lost, and took the ball away three times from the Jets. Wilson himself had three fumbles himself, losing two of them. Breece Hall averaged only 3 yards a carry (16 carries for 50 yards). It came down to the defense for Los Angeles just flat out dominating the Jets. While New York had momentum coming into this game, they were humbled in this game by the Chargers.
The Jets will look to move on from this loss and get ready for the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday night in Week 10.
