Buffalo Bills: Updated AFC East Standings after Week 5
By Brandon Ray
1.) Miami Dolphins (4-1) - win vs. New York Giants, 31-16
The Dolphins are back on top in the AFC East with the Bills losing to the Jaguars, and Miami beating the visiting New York Giants. In the first half, this game was not far apart after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception that was returned 102 yards for a Giants touchdown, but then Miami took over the second half and never looked back.
Rookie running back De’Von Achane is making his case as the offensive rookie of the year, averaging over 12 yards a carry and finishing with over 150 rushing yards against the Giants defense.
The Dolphins put up a total of 524 yards and only allowed the Giants to gain 268 of total offense. While Miami has the lethal pass-attack with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, it is the running game that has been the backbone of the offense and Week 5 was no different. The Dolphin rushed for 222 yards, averaging just under yards a carry.
The Miami defense managed to sack Daniel Jones seven times, in which Jones suffered a neck injury, and the Dolphins managed to get 14 quarterback hits. This was a true bounceback week for Miami and they got back in the win column heading into Week 6, as they now turn their attention to the struggling Carolina Panthers.
