Joint practice with Pittsburgh

On Thursday, August 15th, the Bills will head to Acrisure Stadium for a joint practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a joint practice just two days before the two teams face off against each other two days later in Pittsburgh. Having the ability to practice against another team rather than your own teammates will be very beneficial for the Bills. The practice is closed to the public.

Key position battles

There will be plenty of competition for Bills fans to keep an eye on. The biggest one is at wide receiver, seeing as how it will essentially be a new room with new faces. Khalil Shakir is the only receiver who returns to the Bills that actually caught a pass from Josh Allen. Keon Coleman’s development into Buffalo’s hopeful number one receiver for the future will be observed throughout training camp. Curtis Samuel will be utilized as more of a gadget player where he not only will be a receiver, but also be in the backfield.

Then there are guys like Mack Hollins, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool, K.J. Hamler, Andy Isabella, and Justin Shorter who will be fighting for roster spots. It will be interesting to see the approach that the Bills take with this position.

In addition to wide receiver, cornerback is another position that will be a key matchup. Kaiir Elam has a lot to prove and at this point, Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford are the expected starters along with Taron Johnson who will be at the nickel. It will be the depth behind them that will be tested. The Bills have had some bad luck when it comes to cornerbacks staying healthy the last few seasons.
