Buffalo Bills: Terrel Bernard secures first career interception in Week 2
The Week 2 matchup for the Buffalo Bills against the Las Vegas Raiders couldn't have started any worse for them. They would win the toss but defer to the second half and watch the Raiders march down the field and score a quick touchdown with Jimmy Garoppolo finding Davante Adams on a screen to take a 7-0 lead.
On the next drive, the Buffalo Bills offense was not able to answer after two runs by James Cook and a scramble by Josh Allen. The offense would be forced to go three-and-out and gave the ball quickly back to the Raiders.
The Bills were looking for a spark and might have found it thanks to Terrel Bernard.
Terrel Bernard secures first career interception to give the Buffalo Bills momentum
After the Raiders picked up a first down they were facing a 2nd and 8 when Garoppolo tried to throw a pass to Ameer Abdullah. However, DaQuan Jones got pressure on the Raiders quarterback and Greg Rousseau was able to deflect the pass which gave Bernard time to come down with the interception.
It set the Bills offense up in great position at the 28 yard line and after a fourth down conversion, Latavius Murray found the end zone to tie the game up. This is exactly not only what Terrel Bernard needed but also what the team as a whole needed.
For Bernard, he is making only his third career start and trying to replace Tremaine Edmunds at middle linebacker. He had an up and down performance in Week 1 but now has made this interception along with two tackles.
As for the Bills offense, they needed to get into a rhythm after the second half struggles in Week 1 and the way they started this game. It will be interesting to see if they can keep this momentum going.
