James Cook has started to become a threat in the receiving game

In Buffalo's season-defining win over the Kansas City Chiefs, running back James Cook was nothing but exceptional becoming a multi-dimensional threat on the ground and through the air for the Bills. It has been a good compliment for his run game and has really begun to change how opposing defenses will guard him going the rest of the way this season.

This has become a successful part of the Buffalo offensive attack that quarterback Josh Allen has exploited while the team has faced off against not only the Chiefs this past weekend but also the week before against the Philadelphia Eagles which was a close loss. If this aspect of Cook getting more targets and receptions is successful against the top teams in the NFL, it is reasonable to say that they should stick with it.

In those two games, Cook has been targeted 12 times by Allen and he has caught 11 of them. He was able to rack up 140 total receiving yards and he even brought in a touchdown against the Chiefs. In both games, he has had a yards per catch average above 9 yards in both of those games.

Against the Kansas City Chiefs, his average was up to 16 yards and this was on 5 catches which is the second most receptions he has had in any game this season coming just behind the close loss to the Eagles.

Buffalo and Josh Allen's ability to get the ball to Cook has worked dividends for them with a season-changing win in Kansas City. With another great team coming up on the schedule in Dallas, this way to move the ball with the passing attack to Cook underneath may be what the Bills need to continue to be competitive and make a run at a playoff spot.
